About 2:45 in the afternoon (3 hours after the winners crossed the finish line) today 2 bombs were detonated moments apart. According to the New York Post there are “12 dead and 50 injured. Massachusetts General Hospital was treating 10 people with amputated limbs and all operating rooms were on hold, sources said.” The Boston Globe is reporting up to 100 injuries.
There was a 3rd bomb discovered in a trash can plus one more near the other two explosions. A bomb squad successfully disarmed the weapons. The FFA has cleared the airspace over the area and authorities are asking people to stay off their cell phones in case there are more explosives in the area and cell signal could trigger them.
Police confirmed a third explosion at JFK Library in Boston. Boston fire officials confirmed during a press conference that the third explosion was linked to the ones that occurred at the Marathon. There were no injuries reported from the third bombing. “Fire in building is out, appears to have started in the mechanical room of new building,” The JFK Library’s Twitter account read. “All staff and visitors are accounted for and safe.”
The authorities currently have a suspect, a 20 year old Suadi National, under gard at a Boston hospital. He is being treated for schrapnel wounds.
